Follow the horses is something we try to do in our outside the box approach to therapy. Especially when things are not going as planned or as our stuff comes up.

So when Rosie wouldn’t get on the horse trailer to go back to Angola from our LaCabreah barn -after trying everything & going through the whole spectrum of frustration & questioning my ability as a horse person- I realized there’s more going on than a horse that is refusing to follow my request.
I started hearing my clients, riders & volunteers relate to this horse. How she looks they feel. How they feel like they don’t fit in the box society thinks they should. How people around them get frustrated when they can’t fall in line with everyone else.
How they watch people give up on them & walk away.
So this weekend we are going to walk Rosie home to our Angola farm.
The 41 miles will have stretches with different people, other horses & support vehicles sometimes she & her leader might be on their own as we reconfigure. It all mirrors our own journeys & how we can get support from others, even when we don’t know we need it. It’s going to be long & parts are going to suck, but that seems appropriate too.
If you feel like Rosie, know that you are worth the effort. Know that you have a support system ready to step up when you’re ready to start your own journey.
If you want to join us on our walk reach out. Allison is making a schedule & we have 13.5 hours of walking to do. We have also had offers from friends to sponsor a mile. That would be a fantastic way to support our mission to reach people struggling with purpose.
We’re all stronger together. Don’t give up just because it isn’t easy.
